Pundit slams Leeds United medical staff as latest Patrick Bamford injury timescale predicted

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson has raised doubts about the Leeds United medical team after Patrick Bamford suffered yet another injury issue last week.

Bamford, 28, was forced off the pitch 23 minutes into the game as Leeds won 3-2 against Wolves on 18 March.

He’s missed almost all of the season due to injuries and BT Sport pundit Joleon Lescott, speaking on Premier League Productions, reckons the striker “could be out for weeks” after watching him go down at Molineux.

Robinson doesn’t believe Bamford’s injury is a recurrence of one he’s recently recovered from as he feels he would have had a backlash sooner if it was.

However, the ex-goalkeeper still isn’t impressed by the medical staff behind the scenes at Thorp Arch after Bamford’s latest blow.

“I don’t know, he was given an opportunity in the Norwich game and played the first half of that, he came on the previous game as a substitute and I think it was just unfortunate at Wolves,” said Robinson to MOT Leeds News.

The medical staff have got to be questioned for the length of time he’s been out anyway.

He’s missed such a big portion of the season so you have got to question how he’s been handled and how he’s been looked after.

But you would expect them to have all the rehab to be able to play the first half against Norwich so if he was going to break down, he would’ve broken down earlier than now.

It’s just one of those unfortunate things.

There’s no doubt Bamford’s played matches at Thorp Arch and put in the minutes on the training pitch so I don’t think there’s much more they could have done with him.

“Gut you do have to question how his injury’s been handled over the course of the season.”
