Pundit predicts Leeds United exit on the cards as Brenden Aaronson joins from Red Bull Salzburg

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson can see Leeds United agreeing to sell one of their players to make room for new signing Brenden Aaronson in Jesse Marsch’s squad.

Aaronson, 21, joined the Whites from Red Bull Salzburg last week as Marsch’s first signing as Leeds manager.

He’s an attacking midfielder who can play in a central role or out wide.

Robinson believes that the USA international’s move to Elland Road could mean the end for Raphinha at Leeds due to Marsch now having a top-heavy squad.

“His stats don’t look great but he’s got a lot of potential,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

He’s obviously a player the manager knows very well, he’s worked with him before.

If you look at Jack Harrison, you look at Dan James and you look at Raphinha, does he play ahead of those? No, he doesn’t.

He’s not going to be someone who’ll come in and alter the starting line-up straight away, he’s going to be a squad player unless he changes that himself.

But with players of that ilk and those positions coming in, you then question the future of Raphinha, don’t you?

He’s an attacking midfielder that’s come in and Leeds have an abundance of them so you’d think one of them would be leaving.”

Raphinha has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona.

The ex-Rennes winger played in all but three of Leeds’ Premier League games this season, featuring predominantly on the right-wing.

Aaronson can play on the right-hand side of the attack but stats by transfermarkt show that he spent the majority of this season either as a central midfielder or central attacking midfielder at Salzburg.

In other Leeds United news, this player is considering his options at Elland Road despite only signing last year.
