Pundit defends Daniel Farke decison to omit Crysensio Summerville in Leeds v Stoke, not a ‘mistake’
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United …
Daniel Farke did not make a mistake in omitting Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United’s starting 11 against Stoke City despite losing, according to Paul Robinson.
The Whites suffered defeat to the then-22nd-place Cottagers on Wednesday (25 October) in a 1-0 away defeat thanks to a Patrick Bamford penalty miss and an unfortunate Pascal Struijk own goal in the second half.
A surprise omission was Summerville. After his match-winning brace against Norwich in the club’s last game, most fans assumed the 21-year-old would start this clash, but he only had 20 minutes from the bench to make an impact.

Robinson has defended the manager’s decision to leave Summerville out of the starting 11 as the team selected should have been good enough to get the win, with the obvious quality in the squad meaning team selection was not the issue in Stoke.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “It’s a long Championship season. I like what the manager is doing and he’s got the ability to rotate the squad with the likes of Summerville, Dan James coming off the bench, Jaidon Anthony starting [against Stoke].
“The quality is there, I don’t think it was a mistake at all because the quality is there.
“Gnonto’s been out injured for a while. I just think the quality that he’s got in those areas, whoever he picks is more than good enough. I don’t think the team selection was a problem at all.
“Leeds probably deserved something from the game in the second half.”
In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has shared a “ridiculous” admission amid the club’s promotion hopes this season.
