Pundit claims ‘light-weight’ Brenden Aaronson would struggle to break Leeds United’s starting XI
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United …
Brenden Aaronson would not break into Leeds United’s starting lineup in the Championship, according to Paul Robinson.
Aaronson was one of many Elland Road stars to leave on loan this summer, with the 23-year-old moving to Bundesliga club Union Berlin. However, the Champions League side have struggled and find themselves just one point from the drop zone after their fourth-place finish last season.
The USMNT star has been in and out of the starting lineup in Germany, but with no goal contributions in all competitions this season, he has not impressed.

Robinson claims that Aaronson would have a minimal role if he was to return to Leeds in January despite admitting he’d be a “decent” addition to the squad.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I don’t think you want to upset the balance of the squad. If he was a player that the manager saw as part of his squad or plans this season, he would have probably tried harder to keep hold of Aaronson.
“I don’t think he did well enough last year to become an integral part of the squad this year. He struggled at times in the Premier League. He was lightweight, got pushed off the ball a lot and I think maybe he’d struggle in the Championship this season with the way that Farke plays.

“Financially, I don’t know the situation. Whether he was a player who was unsustainable on the wage bill, or the manager felt he could use that wage better elsewhere.
“He’s a decent player and would be a good addition to the squad, but would they come straight into the starting 11 in the Championship? I don’t think he would.”
In other Leeds United news, Farke possibly has a big problem on his hands after something that happened against Huddersfield.
