PGMOL told to act after Leeds red card incident v Millwall

Keith Hackett has urged the PGMOL to act now after an incident involving a Leeds United player in the loss to Millwall.

Leeds fell to a 2-0 loss at Elland Road on Saturday (8 February) to see their FA Cup campaign end at the fourth-round stage.

Daniel Farke’s decision to make mass changes came back to haunt him, with all focus now on earning promotion from the Championship.

While the loss against Millwall was tough to take, it could have been an even tougher day for Leeds to take after a moment involving one player.

Josuha Guilavogui fortunate to avoid red card against Millwall

Josuha Guilavogui lunged in on Casper De Norre, catching his opponent on the ankle with a pretty terrible challenge.

Quite how the Leeds midfielder escaped with only a yellow card is anyone’s guess, with former Premier League referee Hackett calling for the PGMOL – which he used to head – to tighten up on the laws.

The challenge fulfilled serious foul play and should have resulted in a red card,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

The PGMOL must tighten up and start issuing the appropriate sanction of a red card for these challenges.

Daniel Farke pays for Leeds United tinkering

Farke is right to prioritise Championship promotion over an FA Cup run at Leeds United, but Millwall were there for the taking.

Losing to Millwall is never fun, especially at home, and it now puts added pressure on Tuesday’s (11 February) league clash with Watford.

Leeds are favourites to finish top of the table and return to the Premier League, and now all focus is on achieving that aim between now and the end of the campaign.

As for Guilavogui, he was arguably the worst performer on the day for Leeds and will surely be waiting a long time before he is next handed a start by Farke.
