Paul Robinson: 'Writing on the wall' for Alioski after being axed from Leeds side

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson believes that the “writing is on the wall” for Gjanni Alioski, after he lost his place in the Leeds side following the Arsenal game.

Alioski had started 16 games in a row before that but Stuart Dallas was preferred at left-back for the games against Wolves and Southampton.

Alioksi’s contract is up in the summer and Robinson thinks that he will be the first of the promotion heroes to depart the club.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “I don’t think left-back is his favourite position, I think you can tell that by the fact that he wears the number 10 on the back of his shirt.

“After his performance at Arsenal, his contract winding down, Stuart Dallas playing ahead of him and Niall Huggins coming on and doing well, I don’t think we’ll see much of Alioski between now and the end of the season.

“If a team performs well then Bielsa generally doesn’t change it.

“I think the writing is on the wall for Alioksi.

“If he’s not playing regularly and his only option when he does play is left-back, I think we’ll see him move on in the summer when his contract’s up.”

We agree with Robinson. Alioski was told the ball was in his court back in January over a new contract.

With nothing signed yet and Bielsa looking to strengthen the left-back spot in the summer, it does seem like his time is up.
