Paul Robinson thrilled with ‘big coup’ at Leeds United in January transfer window
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson wants Leeds United fans to trust Marcelo Bielsa after the Yorkshire club failed to sign any new players in January.
Mateo Joseph Fernandez was the only new addition of the month, joining Leeds’ Under-23s from Espanyol.
However, Leeds had a desperate need for senior additions, especially in the centre of their midfield.

Failed bids for Brenden Aaronson of Red Bull Salzburg were made but Robinson feels as though Bielsa’s done enough to earn the trust of the fans and is also happy that no one was sold in January.
“Yes, they kept all their players – which is a big coup – but I think it’s one of the most underwhelming windows there’s been,” said Robinson to MOT Leeds News.
“But, on the flip side of that, you’ve got to trust the manager.
“Look at what he’s done so far, where the club is and what he’s had.
“It’s a case of trusting him and trusting Victor [Orta] that they know what they’re doing and have the resources already.”

West Ham tabled £50million bids to sign both Kalvin Phillips [The Sun] and Raphinha [90min] but both were rejected by the Whites.
Leeds are currently 15th in the Premier League, seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Raphinha has easily been Bielsa’s best player this season with the Brazilian top goalscorer at Elland Road.
While Phillips is arguably the most sought-after and one of the most gifted holding midfielders in the whole of England.
