Paul Robinson is thrilled by the news Leeds United are in a good position to sign Huesca left-back Javi Galan this summer.
Mundo Deportivo has recently reported that Galan, 26, is “ready to sign” for Leeds and has already packed his bags ahead of leaving Huesca after their relegation from La Liga.
Huesca’s drop from the Spanish top-flight also means Galan is available on the cheap this summer as his release clause has reportedly dropped from £6.8million (€8million) to £3.4million (€4million).
Ex-Leeds goalkeeper Robinson would clearly be thrilled with a deal for Galan at that price but claims Leeds should have a lot of money to spend this summer after fresh investment from the 49ers in January.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News about Galan, Robinson said: “It’s not a bad price, he’d be a good player for that price.
“It’s an area Leeds need to invest in and for that price, it’s a very good player for not so much money – it’s a good release clause.
“I think Leeds are going to have a treasure trove to spend this summer with the 49ers money coming in and I think they’re going to spend it wisely.
“I can see them investing heavily.”
Even if Ezgjan Alioski doesn’t leave at the end of the month when his contract at Leeds expires, the Whites could do with bolstering that area of their squad.
Stuart Dallas can play at left-back – as well as every other position on the pitch – but he showed in the Premier League this season that he can be a real star in the midfield.
Alioski has been a bit hap-hazard in his defending and that has seen us caught out at the back a number of times in the Premier League so it would be best to have a proper full-back on board.
Galan is that and although he’s more attack-minded, we still think Marcelo Bielsa can get him to shine in this team.
