Paul Robinson shares ‘absolute certainty’ in fresh Leeds promotion verdict
Leeds United’s promotion hopes took a minor hit after the latest defeat to Portsmouth.
Daniel Farke’s side suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth last time out, though it hasn’t affected the promotion race all too much.
As it stands, Leeds remain in the driving seat to achieve a return to the Premier League, though they do face the added pressure with Sheffield United and Burnley now right behind them.
Heading into the final 10 games of the campaign, the Whites remain at the summit of the Championship, level on points with the Blades and two above Burnley.

Leeds remain on course for Premier League football
As always, given the size of the club, the pressure is on Leeds to get promoted, especially given their failure to do so last season, and despite the defeat at Fratton Park, Paul Robinson still has no doubts that they will do just that.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Absolutely guaranteed that they’ll finish top two.
“I’ve never been so confident. They’ve got 10 Championship games left. They only play two teams in the top 10. They play away at Middlesbrough, who are ninth. They play at home to Bristol City who are seventh. Every one of their other eight games are against teams who are out of the top 10 in the Championship.
Championship | W | D | L | P |
Leeds | 22 | 10 | 4 | 76 |
Sheffield United | 24 | 6 | 6 | 76 |
Burnley | 20 | 14 | 2 | 74 |
Sunderland | 19 | 11 | 6 | 68 |
“So you would think on paper, I’m very, very confident that Leeds will still go up. I said it at the start of the season, and I’ll stick to it now, especially where they are, the opportunity that they’ve given themselves. It was poor at Portsmouth, but listen, the referee made a huge decision. Should have had a penalty. Could have come away with a draw. We wouldn’t be having this conversation.
“You look at where they are at the moment, and like I said, the fixtures that they’ve got still to come, they’re absolutely the favourites to go up.”

Farke has Leeds right where they want to be
As always with the Championship, there will be more twists and turns, but unless something drastic happens, it certainly looks as though Leeds will still achieve promotion.
Prior to the defeat to Pompey, the Whites were in remarkable form, and the key will be to get back to that level of performance to ensure they finish the season as strongly as possible.
With Burnley and Sheffield United still to face each other, Leeds have a huge chance to re-open the gap at the top of the Championship.
