Paul Robinson: Michail Antonio 'licking his lips' to play Leeds United
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United.
Michail Antonio will be “licking his lips” at the prospect of playing against a weakened Leeds United defence, according to Paul Robinson.
West Ham play the Whites at Elland Road on Saturday but Marcelo Bielsa is facing a selection crisis at the back with Pascal Struijk, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Luke Ayling all potentially missing.
Antonio is the form striker in the Premier League right now and Robinson is concerned about Leeds’ defence.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, he said: “With the way Antonio’s playing, it’s not an ideal situation to be playing West Ham.
“But, to be fair, when you look around the Premier League, you’re not going to get an easy game whoever you play against.
“With the way Antonio leads the line, he runs in behind, he plays with his strength and he has an eye for goal.
“He’ll be licking his lips at Leeds’ injury list.
“From Leeds’ point of view, you just hope they can get one of the centre-backs back before the game.“
Despite the prospect of playing against Antonio, who has five goals in five games in all competitions this season for West Ham, Robinson still feels Leeds can beat David Moyes’ side.
He added: “It’s a game that they’ve got to win now.
“They should have had the Newcastle game dead and buried before half-time but I was encouraged with the way they played.
“You look at their points haul so far, it’s not what they want.
“It’s a home game, West Ham are riding the crest of a wave after last year, they’ve started well this year but it’s a game you hope Leeds win.
“I’m going for a 2-0 Leeds win.”
In other Leeds United news, a Premier League debut has been mooted for this youngster at the weekend.
