Paul Robinson makes exciting Leeds transfer claim and 21/22 PL prediction

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has said that with investment money coming in and another tranche of Premier League money, Leeds can sign the players they need this summer to finish in the European spots next campaign.

Leeds enjoyed a very successful first season back in the top flight, ending the campaign in ninth place, ahead of Everton.

Robinson thinks that the defensive solidity Leeds found at the end of the season can propel them further up the Premier League next time around.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Investment is coming in. The 49er’s investment is coming in.

“The owner has never been shy of backing the manager or the team, and with another year’s Premier League money we will go into the transfer market.

“Realistically, a top 10 finish should be the aim, and depending on how the new signings fit into the team, depending on how Leeds start the season, a European finish isn’t out of the question.

“We’ve seen what Leeds can do, they’re not scared of playing against the big teams in the Premier League and they’ve got results against them.

“They’ve not been afraid of anyone and if they approach the next season in the same way they ended the last… Let’s not forget, defensively the start of last season was absolutely awful, they were conceding two or three a game.

“If they can keep the attacking play and keep the defensive solidity they had at the end of this season then it goes without saying that they’ll do better next season.

“Clean sheets win you matches. Look at the numbers they’ve got this year, look at the goals they conceded in the first half of the season. Finishing in the European spots is a realistic aim.”

Leeds were shipping goals at the start of last season but had to cope with a lot of injuries at the back.

Diego Llorente is the player who has transformed our fortunes at the back. If he can stay fit for the whole of next season then we’re expecting Leeds to be a much more solid side.

A serious tilt at Europe isn’t out of the question.
