Paul Robinson: Leeds may need more than £15m to sign Rangers ace Ryan Kent
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist, each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has insisted that Leeds United would need to pay more than £15million to secure the services of Rangers winger Ryan Kent in the summer.
The Scottish Sun have reported that the Whites are preparing a third bid worth up to £15million for the former Liverpool sensation.
Marcelo Bielsa has been a long-term admirer of the winger and appears determined to get his man after a successful return to the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “He’s a top player.
“£15million in today’s market, you don’t get a lot of players for £15million. I suspect they won’t get him for that, and they’d have to up the bid.
“He’s part of something special at the moment with Steven Gerrard at Rangers, winning their first trophy in years with the potential to win many more.
“It’d have to be an impressive contract to entice him away from there at Rangers.”
Winner.
Steven Gerrard has created a winner in Kent, who has tasted serious success at Ibrox this season having ended a 10-year wait for the Scottish Premiership title.
Rangers can also offer Champions League football because of that success, and that could either drive up the asking price or make the winger happy where he is.
GiveMeSport have reported this week that the Scottish side are confident behind-the-scenes that Kent will stay in Glasgow, not good news for the Whites.
£15million appears to be nowhere near enough then, and we expect much more movement on this front between now and the start of next season.
