We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has said that he was surprised to see Marcelo Bielsa drop Jack Harrison for the game against Aston Villa.
Helder Costa started in his place but Leeds put in a flat performance and lost 1-0, creating very few chances in the game.
Robinson thinks that Harrison will come back into the side to play West Ham on Monday and that he needs a big performance to make the starting spot his own again.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “I was surprised that Bielsa dropped Jack for Costa.
“Jack’s been in and out in the last few weeks. It’s been difficult for him to get into his flow with Raphinha playing so well.
“It’s the same for Costa and neither of these two are putting their hands up at the moment and claiming that starting spot.
“In my opinion, Jack will be back, he will play against West Ham, but it’s getting difficult for these two.
“It’s tough to put in a performance with the pressure of knowing that if you don’t play well you’re off at half-time.
“Jack has to get out of that situation, play well enough to stay on the pitch for 90 minutes and to keep his place in the side.”
Raphinha has shown the standards that Costa and Harrison need to be hitting.
He’s quickly made the right-wing position his own and is undroppable at the moment.
Harrison has shown in flashes that he can hit those heights but needs to be able to do it consistently.
