Paul Robinson adamant Leeds United will receive bids for Kalvin Phillips after Euro masterclass
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson is in no doubt that Leeds United will receive bids from top clubs for Kalvin Phillips this summer.
Phillips, 25, had the nation on it’s feet on Sunday as he played a starring role in England’s 1-0 win against Croatia at Wembley.
Not only did he assist the goal but the Leeds midfielder also impressed both in and out of possession, creating opportunities and stifling attacks.

Phillips had barely left the pitch at Wembley before new speculation emerged about his future at Elland Road with Spanish news outlet Defensa Central reporting Real Madrid had become interested in him.
Robinson isn’t surprised by that after Phillips’ man of the match display versus Croatia.
“There’ll 100 per cent be a few bids coming in this summer,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“There’s always a surprise in the tournament and I think if Jordan Henderson had been fully fit, Kalvin Phillips wouldn’t have played.
“But the way Phillips played against Croatia, he cannot be ignored for the next game unless it’s squad rotation and unless he’s told he’s being given a rest due to the upcoming games.

“You cannot ignore him, you cannot not play him – and that’s obviously going to attract top clubs.
“I’ve known, as have many others in Yorkshire and in Leeds, about Phillips all year long. And not just this year but the last 18 months.
“But the way he performed on the world stage – let’s be honest, that’s the world stage – people have had their ears pricked and gone, ‘wow, he’s not just a defensive midfielder, this lad can play’.
“He was hands-down the best player on the pitch on Sunday.”
Phillips has played a crucial role in helping Leeds reach where they are right now and Marcelo Bielsa has been vital in that.
Before Bielsa arrived, Phillips was struggling to play and seen more as an attacking midfielder.
Now, he’s one of the best all-round midfield players in Europe, based on what we saw on Sunday against Croatia.
