Patrick Bamford latest: Leeds striker could be finished for 2024/25 season

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford appears to be currently ruled out with a Grade 3 hamstring injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that his return to first-team action has been delayed as he did not respond well to sprinting.

The English striker last featured for the Whites on 1 January, which was the 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers.

Daniel Farke has a major Patrick Bamford problem to deal with at Leeds United

Daniel Farke will certainly not be thrilled as he’s missed the services of one of his most experienced players all season.

By the looks of it, until the end of the campaign, the 31-year-old is not expected to be back to 100 per cent.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Bamford: “This appears to be a Grade 3 hamstring injury and his return has been delayed by recent ramp up where it seems he didn’t respond well to sprinting.

That can happen during rehab.

Difficult to say when he might be at 100 per cent but he will have another 10-day ramp-up in individual training, then likely at least over 10 more days in full team training prior to needing bounce minutes and then consistent matches.

I wouldn’t expect that until next season if all goes to plan.

Elland Road exit on the cards for Patrick Bamford?

Given what Dr Brar said about the striker, having to rely on him until the end of the season would not be a sensible thing to do.

He’s had multiple fitness issues all season and has not even started a single Championship game for the Whites.

With his contract at Elland Road running out in June 2026, Leeds have a glorious chance to cash in on his services this summer.

The quality of the Premier League is extremely high and getting a transfer fee and Bamford off the payroll would be smart financial planning from the hierarchy.

It’s clear that he’s no longer the striker who was scoring goals for fun in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season in the top flight so it makes little sense to retain his services.
