Patrick Bamford exit prediction emerges for Leeds United after what Phil Hay said

Former Leeds United man David Norris believes Patrick Bamford will stay at Elland Road beyond this summer.

The ex-Whites midfielder has claimed that the striker still seems happy at the club and that those around Thorp Arch support him to continue as a success.

Bamford has spent six seasons as a player with Leeds and has endured a rollercoaster of various fortunes with both form and fitness during his time in West Yorkshire, and has been predicted to stay by Phil Hay [The Square Ball].

“The talk over Bamford’s future is something he’s had over the past few years,” Norris exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“I think he will still be there next season. I don’t think he’s desperate to leave, and I don’t think Leeds are desperate to move him on. He seems a good lad, well-liked – albeit with that sort of up-and-down relationship with the fans.

“He’s had these rumours before and he’s always stayed through it, so I do reckon Leeds keep him.”

Bamford expected to stay at Leeds United

Beneath the surface, it’s not difficult to understand the viewpoint that Bamford will remain a Leeds player into a seventh year.

By far the best season of his career – the 2020-21 campaign without fans inside stadiums – saw him net 17 Premier League goals, forcing him into the England setup.

However, since then, goalscoring form and steering clear of injury has often been an issue to rear its head, much to the frustration of many inside Elland Road who argued his flashes of brilliance were just that.

Reportedly earning a £70k weekly wage which was slashed by at least half following relegation, Bamford’s salary is a key factor in repelling clubs from pursuing an experienced and clearly skilled number nine when fit.

Whilst Daniel Farke may not have an immense need for Bamford as his talisman next season, it may look as though his Leeds United career will continue into the promotion push of 2024-25.

But with the club needing to balance the books this month and recoup funds from player sales, there will certainly be an openness to approaches for the 30-year-old and several of his teammates.

In other Leeds news, the club have been credited with interest in a Tottenham midfielder.
