Patrick Bamford can’t get too much credit for late Leeds United v Brentford – pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson was thrilled to see Leeds United star Patrick Bamford make his long-awaited return from injury on Sunday.
Bamford, 28, came off the bench with 22 minutes left in Leeds’ clash with Brentford and managed to score a last-ditch equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw at Elland Road.
Despite Robinson admitting there was an element of fortune surrounding Bamford’s goal, the ex-goalkeeper was pleased to see him playing for Marcelo Bielsa’s senior side after an absence of almost three months.

“He said himself that he was rusty,” said Robinson to MOT Leeds News.
“You can’t really give him much credit for being in the right place at the right time and it hit his knee and went in.
“But just to have him back fit again, we’ve seen how much of a huge miss he’s been and team really does miss him when he doesn’t play.”

Bamford’s goal against Brentford was his second of the season for Leeds United with the striker also netting versus Burnley back in August.
It remains to be seen whether he’s fit enough to start against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday but an encouraging striker’s performance by Tyler Roberts versus Brentford does offer Bielsa some comfort in case his talisman isn’t ready.
Leeds’ draw with Brentford means they have now lost just one of their last seven Premier League matches as they sit six points clear of the relegation zone after 15 games.
Chelsea will go into their match against the Whites in worse form, having lost top-spot to Manchester City and dropping down to third after being beaten by West Ham at the weekend.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has dropped a Marcelo Bielsa exit verdict amid recent speculation.
