We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that Marcelo Bielsa is showing signs of changing in the Premier League after making changes to his starting XI for the Arsenal clash.
Bielsa dropped Helder Costa and gave Raphinha his first start since signing over the summer.
He also put Rodrigo on the bench and played Gjanni Alioski further up the pitch.
Bielsa has generally stuck to the same starting XI and is reluctant to make changes unless his hand is forced.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Raphinha played really well but I think the biggest thing you can say is that Bielsa gave him the opportunity.
“Leeds have got a lot of players in that area, a lot of quality in that area and the manager has been reluctant to change before.
“He showed against Arsenal, after those two 4-1 defeats, that he’s not afraid to change things up in the Premier League.
“He dropped Costa, brought Raphinha in, put Rodrigo on the bench, stuck Alioski at left-back and Dallas higher up the pitch.
“He’s shown he’s not afraid to make those changes. He’s maybe changed his ways a little bit in the Premier League.”
Raphinha almost won the game for Leeds at the death but was just a bit off balance when he shot and his strike hit the woodwork.
We think he did enough to start again in the game on Saturday against Everton.
