Mergim Berisha ‘to clear medical’ as Leeds United transfer news emerges
Mergim Berisha should clear his medical at Leeds United despite an ACL rupture last season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that it would be until April or May before the Germany international is back at 100 per cent, as he’s been playing this season and things appear to have healed fine, it should raise no red flags during the pre-transfer checks.
Sky Sports Germany journalist Ben Heckner reported on 9 January that the Whites could sign the 26-year-old Hoffenheim striker on a long-term loan deal.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Berisha: “I’m typically looking at the 18-month mark for a return to 100 per cent post an ACL rupture so that would be around April or May, although there’s always variance there.
“As long as everything has healed fine and there are no long-term concerns, it shouldn’t cause any issues with medicals.
“I have seen clubs be weary when they see more wear and tear in the knee than should be expected.“
Leeds United face minimum complications to sign Mergim Berisha
The 26-year-old has played 11 league games this season for Hoffenheim and his fitness has not come into question.
While he’s not been as prolific in front of goal, he will be the first-choice number nine for the Whites and will give them a better chance to secure promotion.

It remains to be seen whether or not the club are successful in securing his services ahead of Augsburg, who appear to be the frontrunners, per Kicker.
In other Leeds United news, sources have revealed that the club could now use a transfer loophole to secure a January signing.
