Max Wober sale decision made amid Leeds United supporters claim

Leeds United are unlikely to cash in on Max Wober this summer but the defender will need to win over the Leeds United fanbase, Paul Robinson has said.

The Austrian defender unexpectedly jumped ship following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League in 2023, joining Borussia Monchengladbach on a season-long loan away from Elland Road.

While the Bundesliga side are interested in signing Wober on a permanent deal this summer, it is understood they are struggling to raise enough funds to meet the asking price [Rheinische Post].

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Brendan Aaronson is one that is coming back into the fold, but the others mentioned will have a lot of work to do with Leeds fans to convince them. Leeds fans will support anyone who wears the shirt and puts in 100 per cent – minimum requirement, maximum effort.

“Performances and results on the pitch will change fans’ opinions. To start with, Wober was one many didn’t expect to see jump ship. Whether that was his doing or not, he will have a lot of work to do, but he’s the most likely to be reintegrated because of his position.

“Wober is the least likely of the returning players to be sold this summer. He will have a job convincing the fans. Leeds fans will always support the shirt but the players need to give 150 per cent.”

Max Wober to rejoin squad as Leeds United decision made

Given Wober’s versatility in defence, it is no wonder why Daniel Farke is keen to keep him around ahead of a crucial second season in the Championship.

The Whites currently have an issue at right-back, and although the 26-year-old really only has experience on the opposite flank, he could be utilised in a new position next season.

With Marc Roca and Llorente already heading for the exit door, Wober’s future looked uncertain. But now, it appears he has managed an impossible U-turn, which could come in handy for Farke.
