Leif Davis could be recalled by Leeds United from Bournemouth in January – pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United.

Paul Robinson has mooted the possibility of Leeds United terminating Leif Davis’ loan deal at Bournemouth in January.

Davis, 21, joined the Cherries on loan in the summer transfer window with the view to him playing more times than he would have done at Elland Road.

It’s a big step in terms of the young left-back’s development but since moving to the south coast, he’s played just four times in the Championship and hasn’t made any of Scott Parker’s matchday squads since August.

If Davis continues to be overlooked by Parker and get denied a spot in the manager’s matchday squads in the Championship, Robinson has warned that the loan agreement could be cut short at the next available opporunity.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “In all honesty, I haven’t kept a close eye on him but the reason he’s gone there is to play games.

You don’t want to be a bit-part player or be on the fringes of the squad because when you go on loan, you go to get the opportunity to play games.

You don’t go on loan to another club to play exactly the same role you would have done at your parent club.

If that is the situation, Leeds may well review it in January.”

Davis has started just twice this season for Bournemouth.

He played 69 minutes in a 2-0 win over Birmingham in the league and also started when the Cherries were thrashed 6-0 by Norwich in the Carabao Cup.

Since that heavy defeat at Carrow Road on August 8, Davis has played just once and that was an eight-minute cameo off the bench at Hull.

Parker did say that Davis had a hamstring injury but that was overcome in September and he still hasn’t played [Daily Echo].
