Leeds United v Southampton injury news as Patrick Bamford update emerges
Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is unlikely to play the full 90 minutes against Southampton in the play-off final, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that for the Englishman to feature on Sunday, 26 May, he will have to be in partial training by now which would be followed by a couple of full training sessions.
There is a possibility that the 30-year-old suffers prolonged pain in that area and will not be able to recover in time for the game after he missed the second leg against Norwich as well.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Bamford:
“The patellar tendon sits below the kneecap and is subject to a high level of force for footballers especially during jumping and landing.
“Mini trauma likely means a knock to that area.
“Worst case here would be prolonged pain and discomfort in that area.
“For him to be available for the final, he would need to be back in partial training at least and perhaps get in a couple of full-training sessions before the game.
“It’s highly unlikely he plays the full 90 minutes, however.“
Leeds United sweat on Patrick Bamford’s injury
While Bamford has not been a regular starter this season, making more bench appearances than starts, Daniel Farke will want him firing on all cylinders in the final.
The 30-year-old offers so much off the ball and has the ability to stretch defences with his direct running ability.

He has bagged nine goals in all competitions this season and if there’s a chance of making him play even 30 minutes in the final, Farke may be tempted to bring him on in the second half.
