Leeds United urged to sign ‘top-class’ goalkeeper after Illan Meslier exit news – Exclusive
Leeds United will be in the market for a new goalkeeper, having sealed their promotion back to the Premier League.
After a 6-0 thrashing of Stoke City, Leeds were able to confirm that they would be playing their football in the Premier League next season.
However, had it not been for Illan Meslier, that day could have arrived much, much sooner.
The Frenchman has endured a horrid campaign for Leeds this season, and after he was dropped for Karl Darlow, it seems apparent that a new goalkeeper will be their priority in the summer, and one in particular has been brandished as an “unbelievable” option.

Aaron Ramsdale mooted for Leeds transfer
Meslier is expected to leave Leeds if an offer comes in for the Frenchman, leaving the Whites tasked with signing his replacement.
Aaron Ramsdale has been one name linked, and Paul Robinson fully backs the idea despite his relegation with Southampton.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, he said: “Aaron Ramsdale would be an unbelievable signing for Leeds. He’d be a brilliant signing. I’d love to see him at Leeds United.
Premier League | Appearances | Clean sheets | Saves | Goals conceded |
Ramsdale | 178 | 40 | 578 | 270 |
“I think his attitude, the way that he is as a person and a player, he would get the Leeds United fans, and they would get him straight away. They would welcome him with open arms. You can see his attitude, his application, and his passion for the game. He’s a top-class goalkeeper. Let’s not forget that a season and a half ago, he was Arsenal’s number one and England’s number one.
“You don’t become a bad goalkeeper overnight just because one manager makes a decision on you. I would love to see Leeds United even overpay for Aaron Ramsdale, you know, get ahead of others. Manchester United will be looking for a goalkeeper.
“I think he’d be the best signing that Leeds would make during the summer.”

Daniel Farke needs to be backed with Premier League experience
Leeds need to recruit smartly this summer, and signings like that of Ramsdale would certainly fit the bill.
To survive in the division, experience often trumps anything else, and throughout his career, he has amassed a remarkable amount of it with various different clubs.
