Leeds United urged to miss Emmanuel Latte Lath transfer in new update – Insider

Paul Robinson is not convinced by Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath after being linked with a move to Leeds United.

The Whites could end up making an offer for the 26-year-old striker, according to Alex Crook, after Boro had a £6million bid accepted by Plymouth Argyle for Morgan Whittaker, a move which has now been announced.

Latte Lath had been closing in on a £16million move to MLS side Atlanta United [Ben Jacobs], but a deal has yet to come to fruition and the transfer window shuts in just nine days.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I don’t think they can afford him, and it wouldn’t be a deal that Middlesbrough would sanction. Why would Middlesbrough strengthen one of their Championship rivals?

“He’s a decent player, Latte Lath, but for the £16million mark, I’m not surprised if he goes elsewhere. 13 goals in all competitions, two assists, and at 26 years old, he’s not overly prolific every season.

“He scored 19 in 36 games, 20 in 34 and three in 19. He’s a good goalscorer at that level but the jury’s out on whether he could do it in the Premier League, which is where Leeds look like they’re heading.

Leeds United to miss out on Emmanuel Latte Lath transfer?

“As a Championship striker, I think Leeds would be overpaying at £16million for a player who may or may not be able to make it in the Premier League. He looks like a top player at Middlesbrough and scored a lot of goals.

“But at 26 years of age, you wonder why no big transfer fees have been paid for him yet. After one good season at Boro, Leeds are ready to pay £16million for him? For Leeds, I think it’s a good one to miss out on, in all honesty.”

Latte Lath has already netted 11 times in the Championship this season, more than Leeds’ top scorer Joel Piroe, and would certainly be a player to secure promotion at Elland Road.

However, as Robinson points out, the 26-year-old is relatively inexperienced at the top level, only making three first-team appearances for Serie A side Atalanta, and Leeds will have one eye on a potential Premier League squad for next season.
