Leeds United twist as Elland Road projects needs capital funding after 49ers news
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Dan Plumley has insisted it is no surprise to see Leeds United seeking outside funding for the expansion of Elland Road in the near future.
The Daily Mail reported on 25 July that the same man who worked on funding for the 49ers’ Levi Stadium build, is doing the same for Elland Road.
The finance expert admitted that the £200million project will not only cover the stadium, but the areas surrounding the ground to enhance the fan experience.

“Absolutely,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“Any kind of big project needs that capital level of funding, so it is no surprise to see the tie-in and someone who has worked on that very close to the ownership is over in States.
“All of that other stuff around the edges, like the linking up with the council and all that stuff around the edges, firstly, it’s about enhancing the matchday experience for the fan and squeezing as much as you can out of that.
“That is not just the experience in the stadium, but getting to and from and all kinds of things. All these big stadium projects are factoring this in that contribute to the overall experience.”

The 49ers Enterprises have already started their plans for the revamp of Elland Road, and it has been something that has needed doing for many years now.
Paraag Marathe is delivering already, it seems.
