Don Goodman believes Leeds United should cash in on Crysencio Summerville this summer if offered £30million for the attacker.

Summerville has been linked with an array of Premier League clubs during the close-season, including the likes of Brighton, Liverpool and Newcastle United.

talkSPORT reported on 18 June that Leeds want £30m for Summerville, who was named the Championship Player of the season for 2023-24.

While losing the talented wide player would leave a huge void to fill, Goodman reckons the exit could ultimately see Leeds better off.

"As good as he was last season - and he was really good until the final eight games or so - if Leeds can get £30m for him and then spend that wisely, it would be a good deal," he told MOT Leeds News.

"It'd give them an opportunity to freshen things up a little. By losing Summerville, they are then able to bring two or three quality additions to the club that would form part of the starting XI.

"If they do that, they'd only be adding to the strongest squad in the Championship and it could be a great season for them."

The sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham means that Leeds do not look likely to breach any financial regulations anytime soon.

That means the club could keep hold of the likes of Willy Gnonto, Summerville and the numerous others who have been linked with top-flight sides.

Daniel Farke will certainly not want to lose Summerville on the back of his hugely impressive campaign last time out.

However, if Leeds are smart with their business and can bring in a few players then it may just be a wise choice.

Clubs will be aware that the Whites have money to spend and will therefore inflate their asking price for a player, but there are ways around this.

Either way, if this is the route United are going to go down, they must make sure they make the decision soon, rather than after the campaign has started.
