Leeds United told permanent Joe Rodon move from Tottenham possible regardless of promotion
Don Goodman has urged Leeds United to make sure they sign Joe Rodon on a permanent deal from Tottenham.
Rodon has impressed during his season on loan at Elland Road and could supposedly be available to purchase for between £10-15million [TEAMtalk].
Leeds will no doubt be interested in agreeing a permanent deal in the summer if that is the case, but Goodman believes a deal could be struck even if the Whites stay in the Championship.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Goodman said: “It’s a no-brainer if they get promoted, obviously. Paying £10m is absolutely nothing in this day and age; it’d be a bargain based on his performances at Elland Road.
“If they don’t get promoted, Financial Fair Play becomes more of a consideration. I know there’s lots of Leeds players out on loan across Europe. Hopefully for Leeds United they’re doing well and that will enhance their transfer value.
“They could more than likely raise funds through selling those players and then get Rodon through the door regardless of whether they are in the Premier League or Championship. If Leeds have a chance of bringing him to the club, they should do so now and get it done.”
Do Leeds United have an option to buy Joe Rodon?
The agreement with Tottenham last summer did not include an option for Leeds to sign Rodon permanently at the end of his loan deal.
Bringing the Wales international in on loan was considered a coup at the time and so that has proved on the basis of his performances so far.
Even at the highest point of that reported amount, £15m would still be a great piece of business if Leeds are indeed promoted to the top flight.

If they stay down, then it becomes a tougher decision to make. As Goodman says, funds could always be raised through the sale of other players.
The question then, though, is whether Rodon fancies staying at Elland Road if the club are in the second tier? There will be interest from elsewhere, after all.
And that uncertainty over which division Leeds will be playing in means that talks between Leeds, Tottenham and Rodon will likely have to wait until the summer.
