Leeds United: Daniel Farke told he will get his wish with Marc Roca transfer decision

Paul Robinson does not believe Daniel Farke has any intention of integrating Marc Roca into the Leeds United squad next season.

The 2022 summer signing from Bayern Munich has spent the season on loan at Real Betis following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League.

Betis are said to have had second thoughts regarding a permanent deal for the midfielder at the end of the season [Diario de Sevilla, 29 March].

However, Robinson still expects Leeds to find another club for Roca in the summer transfer window.

“I think they’ll be able to get him off their books,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News. “I’m not sure Daniel Farke would want to take him back.

“The Premier League passed him by a bit last season and he struggled with the pace of it, although he did show his qualities in certain games.

“If the manager decides to move him on, whether at the club he’s at now or somewhere else, I don’t think Leeds will have a problem doing so.

“I’d personally give the manager free hand to make his own decisions, as well as bringing his own players in.”

Marc Roca contract situation at Leeds United

Roca spent just one campaign at Elland Road after joining from Bayern for an undisclosed fee, before then being sent out to Real Betis.

The former Spain Under-21s international will have just two years to run on his contract when he returns to Yorkshire.

Leeds will therefore see the upcoming window as an opportunity to potentially recoup the fee they splashed out to sign Roca two years ago.

Roca had been a regular for Betis in LaLiga up until a month ago when sustaining an injury, which is proving troublesome to recover from.

Farke has done very well to replace last season’s deadwood with his own players, and it therefore seems unlikely to see Roca back at Leeds.

If that is the case, the club must ensure they land as much money as possible for him in order to reinvest it back into the squad.
