Leeds United told to sign right-back by pundit after £4m+ Calvin Ramsay reveal by ex-manager
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson has urged Leeds United to bolster their right-back options this summer with Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay continually being linked with a move to Elland Road.
Ramsay, 18, has enjoyed a stellar season with Aberdeen, winning the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year award earlier this month.
The Times reported on 23 May that Leeds and Liverpool are battling to sign Ramsay, who’s also attracted attention from Italian club Bologna.
With Luke Ayling undergoing surgery that’ll rule him out of the start of next season and Stuart Dallas likely to miss the rest of the year with a broken femur, Robinson believes it’s important for Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta to sign a right-back.
“Leeds have to sign a right-back,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“Luke’s a top player. He’s a leader on the pitch and they miss him when he doesn’t play because of those leadership qualities. He’s very vocal, he’s a captain without being a captain.
“But I think they’ve come out and said he’s not going to be back until the autumn which rules him out of pre-season and the start of the season.
“It’s vitally important they get some reinforcements in that area.
“Stuart Dallas would have been a natural replacement but obviously, we know that he’s out for a long time as well.
“That’s two players who you need reinforcements for.”

Ramsay scored one goal and supplied nine assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for Aberdeen while playing at right-back this season.
Speaking in January, as quoted by Football Scotland, ex-Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes said the Scotland Under-21 international is a “terrific” player who’d be affordable for English teams for between £4million and £5million.
Leeds completed their first signing of the summer on Thursday (26 May) when Brenden Aaronson joined from Red Bull Salzburg.
In other Leeds United news, this player is considering his options at Elland Road despite only signing last year.
