Leeds United told to sign Armando Broja by Sky Sports pundit after £30m Chelsea reveal

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Chelsea striker Armando Broja is the kind of player Paul Robinson would like to see Leeds United sign this summer as they continue strengthening their squad.

Leeds struggled for goals last season as star striker Patrick Bamford missed most of it due to numerous injury issues.

Daniel James and Rodrigo were regularly played up front but both of them failed to fill the void left by Bamford as he recovered from his injury hell.

Slough-born Albania international Broja, 20, impressed while on loan at Southampton last season, scoring nine goals in 38 appearances across all competitions.

Robinson would like to see Leeds invest in a back-up striker in the same way Tottenham did by signing Richarlison from Everton in a deal worth up to £60million.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News about Broja, Robinson said: “Broja’s a quality player, without a doubt.

I just think it would be very naive of Leeds to enter another season without a back-up for Patrick Bamford or without competition for him.

We saw the amount of time he missed on the pitch last year so they can’t afford to go into another season and have the same situation again.

Broja has that tag of a quality striker.

Tottenham are a different level to Leeds but they’ve done it with Richarlison to get that back-up. Leeds haven’t got that.

Yes, they’ve strengthened in areas they need to but it would be very short-sighted if they went into another season without signing a new centre-forward.”

On 12 July, the Daily Mail reported that Everton, Newcastle and West Ham are keen on signing Broja with Chelsea set to hold talks with the £30million-rated striker in regards to his future.
