Leeds United ready ‘big-money striker transfer’ with high wages set – Exclusive

Leeds United are likely to prioritise a new striker signing this summer window.

Leeds have a remarkable amount of work to do in the coming weeks and months in order to get themselves prepared for life back in the Premier League.

With the transfer window now officially open, the Whites have very little time to waste as they look to build a team capable of bridging the gap from the Championship to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke is believed to have a budget of £150million to spend, and a large portion of that could go on the signing of a new number nine.

Callum Wilson eyed for Elland Road transfer

Mateo Joseph could be on his way out of Leeds this summer, amplifying the need for a new striker even more ahead of the new season.

Callum Wilson and Jamie Vardy have both been linked, and Paul Robinson thinks that the Whites will have to up their wage bill to seal either arrival.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, he said: “The thing for me with Callum Wilson. It’s the fitness levels. You look at how many games that he’s missed, not just this year, but in the past 18, 24 months, the number of games that he’s actually missed or that he’s not been available for selection for.

Wilson’s career record.

“For Leeds, yes, they’re going to have the influx of the Premier League money, but the money has to be spent wisely, and if they are going to go heavily on a number nine, which they need to.

“If they’re going to go and they’re going to go and spend heavily, and they’re going to pay big wages, because Callum Wilson will be on big wages at Newcastle. Jamie Vardy will demand big wages because it’s the first free in his career. Now, if he’s leaving, he’s going to go and cash in, you know, it’s not going to be a cheap wage bill.

“You immediately have concerns over both of them, regardless of what the concerns are.”

Leeds need to show ambition with big striker arrival

Goals win you games, and as it stands, Leeds don’t have anyone that you could look at and rest assured that he will bring goals in the Premier League.

That will be one of, if not the first, priority at Elland Road, alongside the signing of an Illan Meslier replacement.

Surviving will be a tough task in the top flight, and Leeds will be afforded no margin for error in their attempts to do so.
