Leeds United to seek new agreement to resolve Jean-Kevin Augustin transfer dispute
Leeds United will likely be seeking an instalment-based agreement as they look to bring the Jean-Kevin Augustin transfer saga to an end, according to Dan Plumley.
It comes after the Whites have withdrawn their appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against FIFA’s ruling that the 26-year-old is owed £24.5million in lost earnings after the club pulled out of a permanent deal with RB Leipzig to sign the forward on a five-year contract in 2020.
The football finance expert admitted that we may never get to see the exact detail of the agreement after there has been no official correspondence made on the matter at Elland Road.
“I would suggest that they’ll be looking for instalments on that,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“But we haven’t seen the exact terms, no one has commented on the official matters in terms of any parties involved.

“I just get the sense that, given it’s such a big payment, it’s unlikely that is paid in one hit. I think what you’re looking for there from a club perspective is an instalment-related fee.
“We might never get to see that detail, but I think just logic dictates that if you’re the club in that regard, you would be looking to get that as an instalment-based deal.”
Leeds United have clarity in Jean-Kevin Augustin transfer saga
Although Leeds haven’t received the outcome they would have been hoping for in the Augustin saga, at least they now have some clarity and can start to put it behind them.
As Plumley points out, it’s unlikely they will have to pay the Frenchman the entire £24.5million in one go, with an instalment-based agreement likely to be on the cards.
It turned out to be an extremely disappointing signing for the Whites overall after the forward made just three appearances at Elland Road.
