Leeds United to pay over the odds to wrap up next two signings after Ramazani done deal

David Norris says Leeds United will have to overspend on another signing or two in the coming days in order to make any further incomings before Deadline Day smoother.

Norris is one of many who fear Leeds will be held to ransom over several transfer targets due to their desperation for new faces at Elland Road.

The £10m signing of Largie Ramazani still makes it just 20 players in Daniel Farke’s recognised first-team squad, and the ex-Whites midfielder admits biting the bullet on the next immediate deals could make it easier to find a further gem or two before the deadline.

“Leeds will have to bite the bullet – the size of the club, they might just have to swallow overspending on a couple to make their own lives easier,” Norris exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“Other clubs know the position they’re in when they approach them for their players. If they sign say, one or two players, in the next few days – then the last couple of days of the window could be easier for them as they won’t be in the desperation they are now.

“They can go into Deadline Day not panicking, just knowing what they could do with bringing in and they don’t have to scrap about.”

Leeds United must bring in further arrivals

Leeds United have found themselves in a predicament with a week remaining of the transfer window.

Having bid big-money farewells to Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and now Georginio Rutter to the Premier League in the past few weeks, the lack of replacements has left Farke in a difficult situation.

Ramazani’s eight-figure move from Almeria eases the panic shackles slightly, but there is still plenty of work to do with clubs fully aware of the urgency of Leeds’ recruitment operation.

And that’s not the only fear to be concerned with. There are certain players in the squad who may want away due in part to seeing their more decorated teammates leave West Yorkshire – and the most notable of those is Wilfried Gnonto, who may see winger Ramazani’s signing as an opportunity to depart.

Farke knows he still has quality, but needs quantity – and they need to be players who can bolster the team, not make up the numbers.
