Leeds United ‘to bank cash windfall’ in smart new strategy – Expert

Leeds United are conducting smart business as they look set to benefit from old sell-on clauses before the February 3 deadline, Dan Plumley has said.

Mateusz Bogusz is one player potentially on the move, with LAFC in talks with Cruz Azul over a £7million move, with a small portion due at Elland Road if it happens [Graham Smyth].

Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that those clauses are becoming frequent now and can be used in long-term plans for clubs like Leeds.

“It’s part of that long-term transfer strategy,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“They are becoming the norm nowadays for most transfers, especially if you think a player has got future value, it’s really important to put that sell-on clause in there so you know you’re going to get something back.

It’s not always the business that’s done within that window that we’re focusing on, it’s the bigger picture of a sell-on clause where you can gain a little bit of additional value.

It’s becoming the norm and it’s smart business to insert those and you can make them part of your strategy so it will tick over in the background as and when those transfers occur.”

Daniel Farke never expected much business in or out of Elland Road this month, so the 49ers Enterprises will be happy if they can earn new windfall through other means.

Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Crew have left on loan, with Sonny Perkins potentially next in line [YEP].
