Leeds United tipped to sign Georginio Rutter replacement in free transfer swoop
Dan Bardell has mooted Ryan Kent as a potential free transfer replacement for Georginio Rutter at Leeds United.
The Whites are set to face competition from Leyton Orient to sign the 27-year-old after his release from Fenerbache [The Scottish Sun].
The winger made a name for himself at Rangers and could make a return to the UK on a free transfer to Elland Road after Leeds made a £2.5million bid in the summer [Haber Ekspres, 31 July].
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the Englishman could replace Rutter and his output after he joined Brighton in the last window.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “It feels like a Leeds-type signing, Ryan Kent.
“They lost quite a few attacking players over the summer window and they’re lacking some creativity in those areas.
“We have seen how good Georginio Rutter has been at Brighton this season, he’s definitely been a miss. Could Kent be someone who could offset that a little bit?
“He’s good enough to play at the top end of the Championship you would think. It’s going to be a long season and one where I don’t think Leeds have the bodies that they did last season.
“If the wages are right then I think Kent would be a good pick-up for Leeds.“
Ryan Kent could replace Georginio Rutter at Leeds United
The Frenchman was superb under Daniel Farke last season which saw him register eight goals and provide 16 assists in all competitions.
That output hasn’t truly been replaced at Elland Road for the current campaign but the addition of Kent could help provide those goal involvements through strength in depth.

On a free transfer, the Whites could go further wrong than bringing the former Liverpool youngster in as a squad option alongside the likes of Manor Solomon, Dan James, Willy Gnonto and Largie Ramazani.
