Leeds United still deserve credit despite expected win v Plymouth Argyle

David Norris says the reputation of Leeds United as a Championship “scalp” means games they are expected to win become harder.

The former Whites midfielder says Daniel Farke’s side deserves credit for each victory they claim – like the 3-0 success over Plymouth Argyle [2 November] – rather than a mere shrug of expectation.

Leeds blew Wayne Rooney’s side away in the first half at Elland Road as Dan James, Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronson all netted before the half-time break.

“When you’re playing for a team like Leeds in that division, you are the scalp – even with some of the other big clubs in the league, so they deserve credit even to win games you’d expect them to,” Norris exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“Plymouth will have been well up for getting a result there, so you have to show that quality you have. Match the commitment and desire the opponent shows, and when you’re a Leeds team, the quality through the players you have should then see you through.

“They’re going to try and come at you, make things uncomfortable and quieten the crowd down, so it’s important Leeds do what they’ve done in those games.”

Leeds United delivering under huge expectation

Aside from the odd bump in the road, Leeds United are managing to deliver under the non-negotiable parameters of earning promotion this season.

The Whites’ 3-0 triumph closed the gap on leaders Sunderland to three points after their goalless stalemate at Queens Park Rangers.
