Leeds United stance shared as Lewis O’Brien makes new transfer decision
Paul Robinson does not believe former Huddersfield Town star Lewis O’Brien would be a major miss for Leeds United in the transfer market.
The 26-year-old, who is currently on loan at LAFC in the MLS from Nottingham Forest, is reportedly set to snub a move to Elland Road in favour of a £7million permanent move to America instead [The Sun].
O’Brien was a key figure for the Terriers during their time in the Championship before earning a move to The City Ground, but a move to Leeds looks to be off the cards right now.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I don’t know if he’s a player the manager would want. I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed. Looking at the current team, he’s not someone who goes straight into the starting XI.
“Yes, he’s got good experience in the Championship but he’s not someone who would immediately change things on the pitch for Leeds. I wouldn’t say that’s a big miss, no.”
Leeds United to miss out on Lewis O’Brien transfer?
While O’Brien does have plenty of experience in the second tier of English football, he has been unable to cut it in the Premier League since joining Forest in the summer of 2023.
With Leeds aiming to secure promotion to the Premier League, it does not seem like a transfer that would make sense for the Whites whether he was to join in the January window or next summer.

Farke is currently without Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev due to injury, but with the additions of Ao Tanaka, Joe Rothwell and Josuha Guilavogui, the team have enough talent to achieve success.
O’Brien does look to be enjoying life in the MLS so it is no surprise to see him preferring a permanent move to America instead of remaining in England.
In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke will surely be thrilled after what happened to a Leeds star away from Elland Road today.
