Leeds United should keep Jack Harrison and sell Raphinha instead – Sky pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson wants Jack Harrison to stay at Leeds United amid speculation linking the winger with Tottenham.

On 1 April, The Telegraph reported that Spurs enquired about signing the 25-year-old in January and retain their interest in the ex-Manchester City attacker ahead of the summer transfer window.

Harrison has scored in each of Leeds’ last three Premier League games to help move the Whites away from the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Robinson doesn’t want the left-winger to be sold and says that the only player he wouldn’t mind leaving Elland Road in the summer is Rapinha amid speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.

“No, I don’t think they could afford to lose him,” said Robinson to MOT Leeds News when asked about Spurs’ pursuit of Harrison.

Leeds have got a small squad and a good nucleus. But it’s not strong enough and if they’re going to start listening to offers for players like Jack, Kalvin Phillips, Illan Meslier and all the other players linked away, you’d like to think that there’ll be a lot of incomings.

To stay in the Premier League next year, in my opinion, they have to keep the squad they’ve got and build around that.

I don’t think they can afford to let players go.

The only one I think they can let go is Raphinha.

He’s a luxury player who’s done extremely well over the last two seasons.

His price tag is the highest that it’s ever going to be so now is the time to let him go, use that money to bolster the squad and bring players in.

Let Raphinha go and bring in three or four players that are going to strengthen the team and allow them to stay in the Premier League.”

Harrison has scored nine goals and supplied two assists in 32 appearances across all competitions for Leeds this season.

Raphinha, 25, scored his 10th goal of the campaign in the 3-0 win at Watford on Saturday [9 April] and played a major role in Brazil qualifying for the World Cup.
