Leeds United set for cash boost on Tuesday – Finance Expert

Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United will bank a cash boost from their FA Cup 4th round replay against Plymouth on Tuesday 6 February.

The replay has been selected to be broadcast by the BBC, with monetary benefit coming in a game that the Whites likely didn’t want.

The football finance expert admitted that with gate receipts being split at Home Park, on top of the TV money, Leeds will bank some money ahead of a potential trip to Aston Villa or Chelsea.

“That’s the other side of it,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“From a fixture point of view, I’m sure Leeds didn’t want this fixture but the upside from a money point of view, the way the gate receipts are split in the FA Cup, each team takes 45% of the matchday revenue and then you’ve got the TV selection on top of that, so a little cash boost there.

That’s the counterbalance to a fixture that they didn’t really want, but there is a monetary benefit to it.

Of course, if you can get through as well, which is completely within the possibility for Leeds United, then look at what the next fixture can bring, another additional revenue, most of them are going to be on TV, it’s already been decided so you would get that boost again in a few weeks time as well.”

Leeds manager Daniel Farke looking annoyed

Leeds United bank injection.

Even with the cash boost, which is expected to hit six figures in the end, Farke will have likely wanted some rest for his squad, even if he won’t admit it.

The likes of Jamie Shackleton are expected to miss the game through illness, with Dan James and Pascal Struijk definitely out as the risk of injuries emerges.

Hopefully, that won’t be an issue and we can take the cash and a win away from the south-west.
