Leeds United secure biggest sponsorship deal in EFL history with Red Bull investment

Dan Plumley has praised Leeds United for securing a “really significant” investment deal with Red Bull for a minority stake in the club.

The Whites announced a multi-year agreement with the soft drinks giants that will see them also become the front-of-shirt sponsor, in a deal that has been described as the “largest in EFL history” [LWOS].

When asked about the deal, football finance expert Plumley believes it will provide a “significant boost” to the club’s revenue and commercial earnings, and praised the 49ers for showing that they are serious about helping Leeds improve as a global force.

“It’s bigger picture isn’t it,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“It’s interesting timing considering the playoff loss, but also shows the value and the power that Leeds have still got despite that because it probably was a deal that was going to be done anyway.

“When you look at that, we’ve not seen numbers but in terms of the stake and the sponsorship deal, it’s probably the biggest in EFL history.

It will certainly outstrip the current shirt sponsor deal that Leeds have got, so it will provide a significant revenue boost. It will provide a significant commercial boost. It will provide significant leverage in the future, and we know the power of Red Bull branding in football and potentially what that can bring in a commercial and networking perspective.

“So it’s a really significant deal and it’s a testament to the ownership and the way that Leeds United want to go about their business in the future. It’s a really good bit of business in my opinion.”

49ers ready to make Leeds United a powerhouse with Red Bull

There is a very clear plan in place at Leeds with the 49ers pushing for redevelopment and to get the club back where it belongs.

After missing out on promotion there was every chance that the club could be forced to go backwards and wait a while longer, but a deal with Red Bull was obviously already in place and was quickly confirmed to show that they have no plans of slowing down.

Red Bull’s fingerprints are all over the European game with the likes of Salzburg and Leipzig and they have been very successful, so having them as part of the Leeds family is a positive thing.

So long as they know their role and don’t try to mess with the traditions of the club, which the club have been adamant will not happen, then it’s hard to see a negative to the deal.

Leeds will earn millions and have a powerhouse as part of their ownership structure, without giving up a place on the board or any traditions. The 49ers are going the right way about everything.
