Leeds United ready to agree ‘ruthless’ triple exit ahead of Premier League – Exclusive

Leeds United are busy trying to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League under Daniel Farke.

Early transfer links suggest that the Elland Road club are looking to add European talents, as well as top-flight experience, to avoid relegation at the first hurdle.

The Whites have made a bid for Strasbourg star Habib Diarra, with Udinese defender Jaka Bijol another concrete target ahead of the new season.

Leeds to let trio depart Elland Road amid Premier League ambition

As well as signings, the Whites have made decisions on their current crop, with Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood, and Darko Gyabi expected to leave.

It has been reported that Leeds would likely sell the trio for around £3-4million each to generate additional funds this summer.

Football finance expert Dan Plumley highlighted the sternness of those deals and the gap between the Premier League and the Championship.

“It’s another example of how big the gap is both in financial terms and in player terms,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News when asked about the proposed sales.

“If you’ve got players that would probably be in that squad and in and around the team in the Championship, that’s not necessarily the case in the Premier League.

“And, if you are going to bring players in, then you do have to shift players on, and you can look at that as being a ruthless way to do business, but, if you could get a decent amount of money for those players and it’s two or three, that can quickly become £10-15 million.

“It does then make an impact, and ultimately I think that comes down to the squad that you’re trying to look to create in the Premier League, and we’ve seen this season, haven’t we, with the three that have gone up and have come straight back down.

“A couple of those clubs have spent money, so the calibre of players that you’re looking at is just in a completely different league in the Premier League, and that’s the gap on and off the pitch.”

Leeds United right to move players on to boost Premier League funds

While a couple of million pounds does not sound like much in football terms, every little helps in the transfer market, especially when PSR is around.

The aforementioned trio are not needed at Elland Road, but they are bound to have suitors in the second tier, after several loans at that level between them.

If those funds can be spent towards acquiring a player of Premier League quality, then it would be solid business.

Leeds have money to spend this summer, but they must be savvy and generate money from sales too.
