Leeds United PSR update shared at Elland Road after recent Angus Kinnear reveal
Leeds United supporters shouldn’t be worried by Angus Kinnear’s recent profit and sustainability update at Elland Road, according to football finance expert Dan Plumley.
The Whites chief has told the Supporter Advisory Board that Daniel Farke’s side remains close to the Championship’s financial fair play limits, despite selling the likes of Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter [Leeds SAB, 11 October].
Kinnear did insist Leeds were unlikely to be placed under a transfer embargo or face any sanctions and Plumley insists it was all but inevitable the Whites would be in this position after relegation from the Premier League.
“I don’t think so,” Plumley exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“Certainly not if it’s coming from Angus Kinnear himself in a fan’s forum sort of setting.
“We knew that any club relegated from the Premier League was always likely to face a challenge with the Championship version of PSR given the parameters are the cumulative £39million loss over three years.
“Every club that gets relegated, you’re always looking at how will they adjust and I think the fact he has come out and spoken openly about that is a good thing actually.
Are Leeds United at risk of breaching PSR at Elland Road?
“Communication with the fanbase is really key on that so if that’s what they’re putting out publically to their fans, they’re clearly aware of it, they’re tackling it.
“I don’t see any major issues, but it is always there in the background a lot of it will depend on what happens this season.

“Following the disappointment of missing out last season, there will be another push for promotion this season as well.
“It will all be factored in over the course of the season to follow where we are now.”
Ultimately, whether or not the Whites are close to breaching profit and sustainability regulations will matter very little if Farke’s side manages to win promotion back to the Premier League this term.
Leicester City have shown that there are loopholes to avoid point deductions, a transfer embargo or any other potential sanctions so Leeds United supporters shouldn’t lose any sleep after Kinnear’s latest update.
