Leeds United player sale update after Georginio Rutter transfer developments

Dan Plumley has insisted that the sale of Archie Gray has helped protect the PSR position of Leeds United this summer.

The football finance expert admitted that it strengthens the position of the club to be able to reject bids for any other players, or at least ask for more money.

It comes after Brighton saw a £30million bid rejected for Georginio Rutter, with both the player and club not interested in the move [Beren Cross].

“The Gray sale and the club have alluded to this, it protects the PSR position,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“That gives you scope to then reject a couple of other bids or look to play things a little bit differently.

We knew the narrative was that they needed to sell, I think that was right, I wasn’t convinced that it was £100million of sales and I think we are starting to see a little bit of that now, especially with the Red Bull investment as well.

If all those things are true and the club are being quite bullish about that, it probably gives them more scope to reject bids or push the price up a little bit.

I know they didn’t want to lose Gray but that is a good deal with where the club is at having missed out on promotion so it may strengthen their hand.”

Georginio Rutter to seal transfer from Leeds United?

Despite the big-money bid coming from Brighton and the attraction of the Premier League, it looks as though Rutter is happy to stay at Elland Road.

Having returned to Thorp Arch for pre-season training, the Frenchman looks delighted to be back in that environment to push Leeds back to the top.

Red Bull has helped with their investment, and hopefully, we won’t see any more big-profile exits.
