Leeds United plan pays off as World Cup trio return from Qatar ahead of Premier League restart – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Leeds United will have had all sorts of plans in place to cope with three players being at the World Cup this winter, according to Paul Robinson.

Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson reached the round of 16 with the USA before being knocked out by the Netherlands last week while Rasmus Kristensen and his Denmark teammates failed to make it out of their group.

They’re the only Leeds players to have been at the World Cup and Robinson says that plans would have been made to reintroduce them to the team depending on where they finished in Qatar.

But the ex-Leeds goalkeeper believes that the USA and Denmark pretty did what was expected of them at the World Cup, giving Adams, Aaronson and Kristensen plenty of time to rest and recuperate before the Premier League restarts after Christmas.

“In all honesty, I don’t think it comes as a surprise,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

There was a 50:50 chance the USA would come out of their group so I think Jesse Marsch will have had plans for players to come back into training.

There’d also be schedules in place for ifs, buts and maybes depending on the situation.

The most likely situation is the one that’s happened where they’re all home by the end of the group or the end of the round of 16.

I suspect the schedule wouldn’t change much regardless so I think their schedule will have been decided, they’ll have some time off and then go back into the team.”

In other Leeds United news, Victor Orta will be thrilled as a £40million-plus he wants to sign has made history at the World Cup.
