Leeds United plan for ‘bumps in the road’ after Sebastiaan Bornauw signing – Exclusive
Leeds United started the transfer window in promising fashion, having secured two early arrivals.
It seemed that the Peacocks wanted to follow Liverpool’s lead and complete their business in advance of the Premier League season.
However, they have faced some setbacks, with several targets choosing a move to Sunderland over Elland Road.
Habib Diarra is regarded as the biggest miss for Leeds, but they have announced the signing of Sebastiaan Bornauw from VfL Wolfsburg.

Leeds’ transfer window explained amid Bornauw deal
Lukas Nmecha was the first player through the Leeds door after securing a free transfer from Wolfsburg.
Then, Leeds secured the signing of Jaka Bijol from Udinese, with Bornauw also arriving for £5million.
While the Whites’ rivals have spent big, football finance expert Dan Plumley has explained their spending, speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News.
“It definitely does come down to the individual strategy of the club, and you will see some spend pretty early and quite aggressively, and you will see some conserve their energy, so to speak, and look to build incrementally as the window goes on,” he said.
“There’s really no science or logic to it, it just depends on what the club’s doing, and you’ve got that at the top and bottom end of the league.
“Liverpool have obviously done a lot of business very early, Sunderland are spending big, but they’ve had a big outgoing as well with Bellingham to Dortmund, so there are other factors in the mix.
“Ultimately, it comes down to what the individual club wants to do, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to it.
“They’ll be playing it however they plan to play it, and also planning for the bumps in the road because it never goes quite how you want it to with the transfer market as well.”

Leeds United must take measured approach after Sunderland controversy
While all the news is of how the Peacocks have missed out on their transfer targets, they cannot afford to panic.
These things happen in the transfer market, and there is no knowing the complete truth around their interest in such players.
Of course, it will be disappointing to miss out on targets, but there is a substantial amount of time left in the window.
Leeds will have drawn up a list of players and now must act appropriately to secure the ones they really want.
