49ers could be forced into brutal Daniel Farke sack decision at Leeds United
49ers Enterprises will have no choice but to sack Daniel Farke if Leeds United are not in the Championship’s top three come late October, according to David Norris.
Farke’s job at Elland Road appears safe for now, despite some initial uncertainty last month after missing out on promotion to the Premier League with a play-off final loss to Southampton.
However, there is now even more pressure on the German to take Leeds up at the second attempt, which could ultimately result in his job being lost if the Whites make a slow start.
Asked how long he expects Farke to last if Leeds struggle early on in 2024-25, ex-United midfielder Norris told MOT Leeds News: “Not very. The pressure is going to be on after not going up last season – they will be going after automatic promotion.
“I reckon if Leeds are not in the top three come the end of October, they’ll definitely make a change – or if they make a really bad start then it could be before.
“They were right to stick with him and give him another go, but the pressure will definitely be on now.”
Daniel Farke under pressure at Leeds United
Now that he dust has settled on the play-off final heartbreak, the vast majority of supporters appreciate that Farke is the best man for the Leeds job.
Farke has experience of twice guiding Norwich City out of this division, arguably with weaker squads that the one he currently has at Leeds, and he is liked by the players.
Football is a brutal sport, though, and the 49ers know what is on the line. Failing to go up this season was bad enough; a repeat next season will be even more costly.

Leeds will hopefully be quick out of the blocks and remain in automatic promotion contention throughout the campaign, but a similar start to 2023-24 may well cost Farke his job.
There will hopefully be a little less uncertainty come the start of the season compared to 12 months prior, which will only be a good thing for Farke and Leeds.
