Leeds United ‘owe’ Stuart Dallas 12-month contract extension to remain at Elland Road
Leeds United owe it to Stuart Dallas to give him a contract extension while he continues his comeback from an “horrific” injury, says Paul Robinson.
The 32-year-old’s deal is up in the summer and he hasn’t played since breaking his leg in April 2022, but the former England keeper wants the club to do right by him.
He doesn’t want to see the Northern Irishman disappear from Elland Road after a spending his final months with the club in the treatment room, and hopes the Whites give him another 12 months.
Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News: “From a supporter’s point of view and a player’s point of view you’d like to think the club would do the right thing and stand by him, give him another year.
“He’s been an integral part of the club, both on and off the field. His performances on the pitch have been outstanding, and his injury has been horrific at this stage of his career and at his age.
“To be nearly back as he is, and at the fitness levels he is, coming back from such a terrible injury to play again, is a testament to himself.
“I think the club owe it to him. It’s a very difficult situation when you are that age and you’re running out of contract, and his last year of contract is spent in the treatment room and the physio’s room.
“To give him another 12 months as part of the squad, either in the Premier League or the Championship [would be right].“

Leeds United told to do the right thing after Stuart Dallas injury
Age mates and fellow former stalwarts Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper’s Whites contracts also expire in the summer, and the former has already left on a loan deal that will see out that time while the latter is tipped to be let go in the summer as well.
So the writing may be on the wall for Dallas despite his extremely unfortunate past 22 months, and if that is the case then many supporters will be desperate to see him turn out for Leeds United again before the season is out.
If not it would surely be no surprise to see the club’s player of the year from the last time they got promoted under Marcelo Bielsa offered some sort of coaching role, should his playing career be step too far after such a bad injury in his 30s.
In other Leeds United news, another former key man is expected to leave as well, but for good money, by Phil Hay.
