Leeds United noises emerge on Georginio Rutter transfer developments

Dan Plumley has insisted that noises from Leeds United highlighted that they didn’t want to lose Georginio Rutter after he joined Brighton.

The French attacker joined the Seagulls after his £40million release clause was met [Florian Plettenberg], with no replacement yet to come in at Elland Road.

The finance expert admitted that while it is a good fee, Leeds were exposed by the release clause after not gaining promotion back to the Premier League.

“I think it’s the biggest deal outside of a relegation year,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“If you look at the next year after relegation and a player leaving the Championship, I think it’s the biggest.

It’s a significant amount of money and judging by the noises coming out of the camp, I don’t think they wanted to lose this one.

I know they had to sell a couple and that was the reality of where they were at but this one seems like there was nothing the club could do because the release clauses had been met and the players obviously wanted to have a crack at the Premier League again.

That is the reality of not getting back to the Premier League last season, you are at risk of clubs coming in for your best players. It’s a big fee, obviously, the money will help but one they didn’t want to lose.”
