Leeds United news: Sky pundit gutted as yet another 'serious injury' strikes Adam Forshaw
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson has backed Adam Forshaw to return from his season-ending knee injury just as he did from his two-year lay-off earlier this term.
Forshaw, 30, has missed Leeds United’s last two matches and will also miss their five remaining Premier League fixtures after suffering a fractured kneecap.
It was a training ground injury for the midfielder, who’s done so well this season after returning from spending almost two years on the sidelines with multiple issues.
Forshaw’s not the only player to have recently been ruled out for the rest of Leeds’ season with Tyler Roberts and Crysensio Summerville also suffering the same fate [Premier Injuries].
After hearing of Forshaw’s latest setback, Robinson couldn’t hide his disappointment for the midfielder.
However, the ex-Leeds goalkeeper feels that Forshaw’s past experience of serious injury issues means that he should overcome this one just fine.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “It doesn’t sound a pleasant one.
“It’s a massive blow for him personally because he’s had such mental strength to come back from the injuries he’s had before and to perform at the level he has done this season.
“He was like a new signing this season and the form he managed to regain was at a level that not a lot of people didn’t expect him to go to.
“For him to have a serious injury that’ll keep him out for so long is a massive blow for Leeds but it’s a huge blow for him personally.
“But Forshaw’s shown that he’s mentally strong, he’s shown that he can come back from injury and he’ll use that experience to do it yet again because he’s of an age where he’s still got so much left in his career and it’s a tough time to get injured.
“I think he has the mental toughness to do it again.”
