Leeds United news: Pundit reacts as Tyler Roberts blasts trolls, tells them to ‘grow up’

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson understands why Tyler Roberts bit at trolls at the weekend after he was slammed for his performance at Leicester.

Roberts, 23, came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium but could barely move as he suffered an injury fairly quickly and wasn’t substituted off.

Since then, the Wales international has had to undergo surgery on his hamstring and it has been confirmed he’ll miss the rest of the season.

In the immediate aftermath of the loss at Leicester, Roberts took to his personal Instagram account to hit out at critics, telling people to “grow up” after suffering abuse.

Robinson doesn’t have the most glowing of views on social media and understands Roberts’ frustration.

However, he also feels that the ex-West Brom attacker has been performing below expectations this season.

“It’s very difficult not to [react],” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

I don’t have any social media outlets because I wouldn’t want to open myself up for that criticism.

When you are on a social media platform, it’s something that unfortunately goes with the territory.

Everyone has an opinion on how you played and some people will take great pride in letting you know how they think you played.

It has been a difficult season for Tyler because he’s not played as much as he would’ve wanted to, he’s not performed to the level he wants to and he has had criticism.”

Roberts has played 23 times in the Premier League this season, starting seven matches.

He’s scored one goal and supplied one assist in those games.

In other Leeds United news, this senior player is in a precarious position at Elland Road after what happened at the weekend.
